Opel will develop new engines and advance the fuel cell for PSA Some will still think that the presence of Opel in the conglomerate of French brands of PSA may be superfluous, but the truth is that the lightning mark will become an axis main in the strategy of the French giant, since it will be the Germans who develop a new range of engines and other technologies and processes. Within the set of brands of PSA, it seemed that the purchase of Opel could be a burden for the French and pointed -from some media- to almost a disaster that would have a very unhappy end to the lightning mark in years to come, especially when the new PACE Strategic Plan was announced! that would make Opel a brand of electric cars.
But, surprises of life, Opel happens to become one of the main axes of PSA’s business strategy: it will be the technological developer of the giant group, starting with the design of a completely new range of engines powered by gasoline, among them a new block of four cylinders with 1.6 liters that will be mounted on all models of DS, Peugeot and Citroën, in addition to the future models of the German brand.
