Harnessing the power of algae, the new and greener fuel cells are closer to realitymiércoles, 10 enero 2018 Researchers at the University of Cambridge have developed a new design of fuel cells fed algae that is five times more efficient than existing models of plants and algae, and which is potentially more cost effective and more practical to use.As the world population increases, so does the demand for energy. The threat of climate change means that there is an urgent need to find cleaner and more renewable alternatives to fossil fuels that do not provide large amounts of greenhouse gases with potentially devastating consequences for our ecosystem. It is considered that solar energy is a particularly attractive source since, on average, the Earth receives around 10,000 times more energy from the sun in a certain time than required by human consumption.
