Fronius inaugurates Austria’s first «green» hydrogen refueling facilityviernes, 26 octubre 2018 Fronius Solar Energy has opened the first hydrogen refueling station in Austria that uses renewable energy in Thalheim, near Wels. With the help of solar energy, this service station generates «clean» hydrogen that is used to power vehicles with a fuel cell.Located at the Fronius development headquarters, the pilot station started its trial period in May. By means of electrolysis, hydrogen is generated mainly thanks to the surplus solar energy, which is subsequently converted into hydrogen and used in vehicles powered by a fuel cell. This energy, in addition, can be stored for reconversion in electric current and heat. Fronius is also responsible for the development of the necessary components, such as electrolysis installations and fixed fuel cells.
