The German manufacturer ZF has developed, together with the in-tech specialist, the e-troFit project. This innovative bridge technology allows efficient passage of the diesel engines used so far to an intelligent and sustainable alternative such as electric motors.
The project focuses mainly on the remotorization of local public passenger transport buses, moving from conventional to electric propulsion. For Helmut Ernst, responsible for the Aftermarket division of ZF, it represents the ideal solution for the transition towards the era of purely electric vehicles.
Taking into account that the markets will not be ready to produce the necessary electric vehicles in series until 2025, «the re-motorization of conventional industrial vehicles to electric propulsion until that date will be a magnificent opportunity to support cities in the electrification of local public transport. «and thus achieve the environmental protection objectives required.
