Mercedes-Benz launches the first hybrid vehicle with a hydrogen fuel cell on the marketlunes, 19 noviembre 2018 Mercedes-Benz has given a twist to the concept of the vehicle «zero emissions» with the presentation of the GLC F-CELL, a hybrid SUV plug-in with hydrogen fuel cell. This revolutionary system opens a new path in the world of cars powered by alternative energies, since this new model of Mercedes uses to move both a battery pack and two tanks to store pure hydrogen. With this novel system, CO2 emission is zero, since the two types of energy used by this hybrid are clean energies. This vehicle is completely suitable for daily use due to the great autonomy provided by the battery and hydrogen and the short period of refueling. The GLC F-CELL has two tanks covered by carbon fiber housed in the floor of the vehicle that can contain up to 4.4 kilograms of hydrogen. The filling time of these tanks is reduced to only 3 minutes thanks to the load pressure of 700 bar. The estimated consumption of this Mercedes model is around one kilogram per 100 kilometers, so the autonomy reaches 430 kilometers according to the NEDC cycle only consuming fuel. In purely electric mode, it has a range of 51 kilometers using its 155 kW electric motor.
