Closer to the production of hydrogen without emissions thanks to a new pilot site in Denmarklunes, 05 noviembre 2018 A European initiative will facilitate the production, storage and supply of hydrogen for a wide range of end users. This action will contribute to integrate the ecological energy into the energy system with flexibility. The renewed efforts to reduce carbon emissions have made renewable energies a fundamental source for electricity generation. Thanks to the versatility, safety and cleanliness of hydrogen as an energy carrier, no one doubts its enormous potential to assist in the energy transition. In fact, the technology that allows it to be produced by means of wind energy by electrolysis, the separation of water into hydrogen and oxygen, is well known. However, the profitable and sustainable production of large quantities of this gas through this process is not simple. The European-funded HyBalance project addresses this problem by producing large-scale hydrogen from wind turbines in a hydrogen-electricity conversion plant. In this way it will be possible to store renewable electricity for little price and at the same time achieve network balancing services and supply hydrogen to commercial users. In addition, the generated hydrogen can be consumed in the transport sector.
