Successfully test a prototype hydrogen-scale car that generates and stores gas safelymartes, 23 octubre 2018 Researchers from the Institute of Chemical Technology – mixed center of the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the Higher Council of Scientific Research (CSIC) -, the Advanced Materials Institute of the Jaume I University of Castelló and the Institute of Chemical Synthesis and Homogeneous Catalysis of the Universidad de Zaragoza-CSIC, have developed and successfully tested a car-scale prototype that stores and generates hydrogen safely and is capable of using it as fuel.Hyprosi uses a process patented by the same researchers that allows the efficient production, storage and safe transport of hydrogen for use in fuel cells through the use of so-called liquid organic carriers of hydrogen (liquid organic hydrogen carriers or LOHC), details the Valencian university through a statement. The organic liquid carrying hydrogen is the result of the combination between a silane and an alcohol that, in the presence of a catalyst, allows the generation of hydrogen in a rapid and controlled manner. The main advantage is that the production of hydrogen is carried out at atmospheric pressure and at temperatures even below zero degrees centigrade.
