On August 13 and 14, the first International Hydrogen Forum in Costa Rica was held in San José, organized by Estrategia Siglo XXI. In that meeting, the Environment Minister, Carlos Manuel Rodríguez Echandi, reminded those present of the achievements made by Costa Rica in the last century, in terms of recovering forest cover and decarbonising our electricity network. Then, the President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, contributed an accurate reflection in the sense that it is only through the knowledge and development of science that humanity has been able to achieve a better standard of living for most of the inhabitants of the planet. The words of the President set the tone for the subsequent exhibitions by the main players in the energy industry in the field, such as Shell; the producers of combustion engines, Cummis and Toyota among others, as well as two industrial gas giants: Praxair and Air Liquide.
