The first «green hydrogen» plant in Spain will be installed in Castilla-La Manchalunes, 12 marzo 2018 The first Spanish plant of sustainable hydrogen production will start producing this year from renewable energies in the town of Alcázar de San Juan, in the province of Ciudad Real. The plant, which will be called Vitale, has been designed to produce hydrogen to fuel vehicles equipped with a fuel cell.According to the newsletter of ASEPA (Spanish Association of Automotive Professionals), the hydrogen and oxygen generated by the Vitale plant will be produced from electrolyzed water thanks to the abundant solar and wind energy in the area. The plant has been designed to produce the hydrogen of extreme purity required by fuel cell vehicles. With this new hydrogen generating facility, the completely renewable ‘zero emissions’ cycle is completed, from the generation of energy from «green» electricity to the use of it, which will be used for fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) that convert hydrogen into electricity and where the only emission is water.
